Hey Folks,

It’s getting close to the time of year when we redesign our t-shirts, and take a look at our overall company image.

This year, we have decided to take a proper look at the logo, I’ve a lot of feedback in relation to our logo since we changed to the current one. It didn’t fall on deaf ears but we (management) decided that it was best not to change our logo until we did the annual redesign.

We have also decided to change the tags from ag. to adv. this change is NOT effective yet, however feel free to play with the tags. As is tradition here at Advance Gamers, we will let the teams choose a suffix for their team, however they must discuss the suffix with myself OR mib before it will be considered the official suffix for your team.

We would like the community to take part in the logo redesign process so feel free to pop on teamspeak with us and discuss it, maybe even have a go at designing one yourself. We’d prefer any designs to be themed around an animal or some sort of image. We have tried text based logos in the past and seem to get a lot of negative feedback based on them. We have also decided to set the deadline for new logo design ideas as Thursday 8th December. We will then be discussing possible new colour schemes for our new t-shirts, logo and website.

I think that about covers it, back to playing with the t-shirts :D

We are proud to announce that Advance Gamers will officially be going into partnership with FragRadio. Following discussions at both i43 and i44 we have decided to officiate the partnership between the companies and will be providing ongoing support to our new friends and their continued successes in the eSports Radio scene.

With this announcement, you should see a few changes coming to the site in the next few days as we lay down the final slabs and cement the agreement.

Both myself and MiB like to thank Alex for this opportunity to work with both him and his company to further the growth of Advance Gamers on the eSports scene.

Advance gamers have today finalised our Call of Duty 4 line-up for the insomnia44 winter lan at Telford International Centre, which has a minimum prize pot of £2500. After much deliberation, player swapping, long trial periods and hard decisions, we are delighted to unveil a line-up which can not only participate at i44 but can actually seriously challenge for honours and thus represent a huge leap forward for ‘Advance Gamers’ on the Call of Duty scene.

The changes represent a major shake-up of the team since i43, with the only player remaining from that line-up being Luke “LukE” Bettison (aka WalkeR). The four changes represent the addition and re-union of former etRnal and i37 team-mates inside AG.

Changes to the set-up mean that Luke will now ply his trade as an SMG, working closely with his new team mate and former Veritas, DRUIDZ player Jon “woodyx” Greenwood, whom has attended i31, i32, i33, i34, i36 and i37.

Tom “TiMMEH” Large has been drafted in to take on the void left in the scope position, with previous lan experience and a high profile gaming background he brings much needed experience and flair to the position – hoping to once again ‘go large’ at i44 (excuse the pun).

A major coup for the org has been to bring Andrew “Andehh” Yates back onto the Call of Duty scene, whom will re-occupy his notorious assault role. For the uneducated Andrew although being an ex-team mate of the four new additions has a long lan history and a high profile gaming past, being in teams such as iQPAD and VYE.

Last but not least, new team captain and team cog Michael “MYK” Davis (aka tRANCE) will resume his assault role that he left for university commitments after i37 with etRnal.

Summary of the new Line-up:

uk flag Luke “LukE” Bettison
uk flag Jon “woodyx” Greenwood
uk flag Michael “MYK” Davis
uk flag Andrew “Andehh” Yates
uk flag Tom “TiMMEH” Large

Our new “Call of Duty 4” team captain Michael had this to say;

“I am delighted to be here at Advance Gamers, from day one the management, MiB and Ghosty have made me and the lads feel extremely welcome and have virtually bent over backwards to help us in our quest to build the team and be fighting fit for lan. Moreover I am excited to have brought together the players I left after i37 due to personal commitments, we always clicked and worked well together and with the addition of Luke since then, along with new found experience we are looking and feeling like strong contenders in any competition we enter moving forward.”

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Advance Gamers community and management to wish our boys the best of luck at i44, where they will be facing familiar foes and testing their skill again at the highest level. I for one will be there supporting them every step of the way.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It has almost reached that time of year where Mo Bros around the world spend an entire month growing and grooming their moustaches for Movember in order to reach awareness of men’s health.

Starting from Movember 1st, we are asking all members of Advance Gamers, capable of growing a mo to join with myself and MiB for a month of mo.

We are also aiming to partner up with Kyoto Lounge in Manchester to promote the month of Movember and seek donations. We will be joining the official Kyoto team when it goes live and will be providing links to the team page for anyone wishing to make donations towards the team. (my personal page is: http://mobro.co/Utghost for anyone wishing to donate to me directly).

About Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

How the money will be used

The funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers – prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. Together, these channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Anyone wishing to learn more about Movember should feel free to visit their site: http://uk.movember.com

We’ll be posting weekly updates with our progress during the month of Movember.

Thank you,

Declan ‘Ghostie!’ Briggs

OK, so I’m a little late with this one but here goes.

So just before i43 I was meant to post a few pictures of our 2011 t-shirts. Now these photos made it on to my twitter and g+ but not the site. So here they are :D

Back Shot

Once again, I’d like to thank Rhino Sports for an amazing job taking my less than perfect design and turning it into a work of art.

I’d also like to thank Asus and Advance Technologies for their continuing support.

So finally, after many months (I started them back in November 2010), the 2011 T-Shirt design has been finalised and ready for print.

The final design can be found here

Unnamed T-Shirts will be provided by ourselves at events, with named shirts costing £18. Team members will be given a significant discount on named t-shirts (speak to MiB or Ghostie for more details). Named T-Shirts can be picked up at events or we will look at how much it will cost to send them if you aren’t attending.

The Unnamed T-Shirts provided at events will be expected to be returned on the last day so they can be professional cleaned before the next event.

The first order will be placed in 3 days with Advance Technologies who will review the order before sending it to print.

Thanks,
//Ghostie!

Update: Cost of delivery to the UK is £1.50

Hai folks,

Sorry that I’ve been a bit quiet of late. My system upgrades were causing me trouble. My computer still isn’t running how I would like it but its getting there.

I managed to find the time to check the users list to today and deleted two users, one was a known spambot and the other was using a temporary email address that I couldn’t check. I then found a post on the forum by a ‘guest’ but since guest posting is turned off, I guess that temp email address was an actual user (sorry).

I’ve installed a couple more plugins to improve security on the site in another attempt to prevent spambots from the registering on the site. That makes 7 different security solutions on the site now, I just hope they all play nicely together.

I’ll be adding the top10 temporary email addresses to the email address blacklist, this is nothing against anyone using them to protect themselves from spam, I’ve had a look around the site and I haven’t found a way for guests to view the email addresses of persons whom register to the site (it might be possible, I’ll have a google in a minute and try to find a plugin to protect them if it is possible). We hardly use the mass email function (don’t think I’ve used it at all for that matter), so don’t expect any spam from us.

I’ve finally fixed the sound bug with my computer which means I can carry on recording F.E.A.R 2 and get that play-through out. Sorry for the delay.

Myself, MiB and Staffo are booked for i43 and we are searching for more players to complete the team. I’m going to talk with the boss over at advancetec about getting ourselves a Call of Duty: Black Ops server sorted, and maybe a public cod4 one (god I miss public cod4 sometimes).

We finally have a logo sorted and our t-shirt design, almost, finished:

I want to get the ball rolling again here at Advance Gamers.

CoD:Elite

Hey Folks,

As most of you have probably noticed. Activision have announced that they will releasing a premium service a long side CoD:MWfail3. From the looks of it so far, its going to be a bad mix between ladder sites like ESL and ClanBase and some social networking elements. There does appear to be a few nice features but just how much of the site will be accessible to people not paying the monthly sub has yet to be seen.

I’ve signed up to the beta taking place in a couple of months to get a closer, whether I get in or not is a different matter. Something I did notice while signing up is instead of saying ‘Platform preference’, they used ‘console preference’ and listed PC under the ‘consoles’. I’m sorry but a PC is not a console.

Anyway, that’s just my first thoughts on the matter. Hopefully they won’t tie any game content to the subscription service. Although from the intro video and the general news coming out about it. It would appear that DLC is going to be tied to the subscription.

Intro Video

Updates

Hey Folks,

So I don’t know about you but with me releasing all these videos on youtube at the moment and then posting them on the site. I found that the front page was getting abit spammy with videos. So I’ve been looking for a good way to hide them on a different page for the past couple of days and finally managed it today. If you want to watch any of my playthroughs, they can be found on the youtube link in the category bar each each game getting its own sub-category. Main videos, such as announcement videos will still make it onto the front page but without pure homepage spam.

I’m going to work on a sidebar widget to show the 5 latest videos posted so that should go up sometime in the near future for quick reference.

I’d like some help to make some new banners up for the site and the youtube channel. I also need a nice background made up for the youtube channel, since I’m working with limited C drive space, I can’t install any adobe projects due to the shear amount of crap they dump on the C drive.

Thanks,
Ghostie
