Well its a week since we returned from the iSeries and I’ve finally gotten all my faculties back so I thought it was about time I got round to summing up Advance Gamers experience at i42 and here it is in all its glory.
All the boys arrived on the Thursday without any major dramas en-route, after Staffo and Jamez fixed their travel battered PC’s we settled down to a relaxed evening saving practice for friday morning. Practice kicked off well with the entire team getting kicked and banned from a server as supposed hackers so we paid a visit to the opening ceremony which this time round had Roccat, Kustom, Eset to name a few, one exhibitor I took particular interest in was HeatHunters, these guys had a proper thermal imaging device and where going round taking thermal pictures of peoples systems which I made full use of to assess my own system. As always Wizzo presented a blinding opener to the weekend and I dare say without him it wouldn’t be an Insomnia lan.
The main part of the weekend was spent trying to pull together what was pretty much a mix team into something that could be considered a functioning team, we didnt get out of the CoD4 knockout rounds because of this but we didnt expect much more coming together at such short notice, fun was actually had in the CoD4 fun tournament which once again has gone back to it’s roots of being free and fun, we lost 13-11 to VYE which at one point we almost won, one of their players admitted afterwards they put everything into the last half as we had them on the backfoot. Although we came away with no results to shout about we all had a good LAN and will be back for more at i43 with better strats and hope to make good headway in the knockouts.
see you all there
So it’s been a week since i42, We do have some photos and I’m working my magic with the game demos (or will be if I ever finish my current project). MiB is drafting a write-up of what transpired over the weekend and I’m expecting to get my mits on the first draft of that in a couple of days.
Sorry for the delays in the posts. I caught MiB off guard with a nice little in the admin section to remind him the write up needed doing but I only did that this morning so.
My little project is coming along nicely, I’m just getting the robes with the software I’m using and have made a small upgrade to my pc to make things easier. Still made a couple of things to finish the hardware side of the project off then its really just learning the software again and getting some nice artwork.
More updates on the way
Hai Folks
Just a few annoucements before the team head out to i42.
Our current line-up (as far as I know) stands at
MiB will be providing photos, updates and reports from the event and I’ll be providing the normal (non-existant) general news updates.
Hai Folks
Just a few quick heads up.
Shortly after coming over to Advance Gamers, pRn ran into trouble recruiting a 5th member and took action to improve their efforts, this however proved counter productive and resulted in the pRn team disbanding after several weeks of failed trials to recruit 2 new members.
The CoD4 team also had similar bad luck recruiting new players for the upcoming LAN event i42 which kicks off later today (thursday 21/04/11) with the doors opening around 6ish for early arrives. I (Ghostie!) will not be attending this event due to life commitments. MiB, staff0, walker and James will be attending under the Advance Gamers banner and are joined by LethalCleric and Chef, long time friends of several members of AG.
Its been a slow year so far here at AG but I’m hoping things will pick up and I have few things in the pipeline to help us along. I’ll give details at a later date once I get my head around everything and out of my ar*e. The site progress has been and will remain to be on a backburner until I can secure funding to update the theme and buy a new template. I will be adding more features to the site as I begin to put some of my plans into action so watch this space.
The WoW guild has also been put on a backburner considering MiB has moved on from WoW. I have since moved realm to play with friends from University and walker (who never actually put his main in the guild) has joined a different guild so naturally… meh. The plugins related to the guild will be turned off and hidden but not removed. I still have hope for it but I’m kinda enjoying the other guild I’m in now.
Since progress and development of the site are on a backburner. I haven’t given much thought to the current forum set-up but I’m not too happy with the limited feature set that the current forum plugin provides and would perfer a fully featured forum integrated directly into the blog without too much hassle while still providing all the required functionality, but this isn’t very high on my to-do-list and will probably be covered in the theme update when I secure funds.
I think I have covered everything so…
Good night
Ghostie!
Ok folks, good news. We made it to the event in one piece. The train ride was a bit long and complex. With us almost missing the switch over at Newbury to get the train to the racecourse, but we survived.
MiB and Staff0 even managed to get a few drinks in before we arrived.

First day consisted of setting up and getting comfy. We reserved our corner of the red rooms in record time. Getting them set-up before the doors even opened.

Then got our pc’s set-up and well, the picture explains how the rest of the night went…
